Message from the Chairman

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the Nepal Institute for International Economic Research and Development (NIIERD).

NIIERD has been established with a vision to advance rigorous economic research, evidence-based policy discourse, and meaningful international collaboration. In an increasingly interdependent global economy, we firmly believe that knowledge creation, scholarly inquiry, and cross-border partnerships are indispensable for addressing complex development challenges and fostering sustainable and inclusive growth.

Our Institute brings together accomplished economists, policy experts, academics, and seasoned professionals from Nepal and abroad to engage in critical domains such as economic development, international trade, finance, investment, capital formation, and socio-economic transformation. A particular emphasis is placed on investment-led development strategies, the strengthening of capital formation, and the enhancement of Nepal’s productive economic capacity.

NIIERD is also actively engaged in project evaluation, development assessment, and impact evaluation, ensuring that development interventions are grounded in empirical evidence, efficiency-oriented, and outcome-driven. Through rigorous analytical work and applied policy engagement, we seek to contribute to improved resource allocation, effective implementation of development projects, and sustainable long-term impact.

Furthermore, we remain committed to policy refinement and institutional strengthening, supporting reforms that enhance the investment climate, promote private sector dynamism, and facilitate both domestic and international capital flows into priority sectors of Nepal’s economy.

A defining strength of NIIERD lies in the strategic mobilization of experienced professionals across diverse sectors in synergy with energetic youth engagement, thereby creating a dynamic ecosystem where experience and innovation converge.
